I have some news...
This is the first public forum in which I am sharing this news. Eventually, I will share with all because this is such a big part of our lives.
My daughter, Kass (for those of you who don't really know me), is having a baby. She is 5 1/2 months pregnant and due the week after she graduates from high school She is keeping the baby, a boy. They will be living with us while she continues on thru college. At this point the father is not in the picture (thankfully, because he is a not a nice person, has no drive, and treats Kass horribly), but that could always change. While this is not what we wanted for Kass' life at this time, she is our daughter and she is having a baby. In our eyes a baby is always a blessing.
So...if I seem quiet, just know that things are a tad busy as we go thru these adjustments.

Re: I have some news...
for your family! I can only imagine how scary this must be for her. I am glad that she has you because I know that you will be a great support system for her. I'm sorry that the baby's dad will not be in the picture, but it sounds like it's better that way.
I can't imagine what you are going through, but if there is anything I can do, or if you just need a place to talk, I am here for you!

Re: I have some news...
to you and Kass and the whole family. It is just amazingly awesome how supportive you are being. And you are right a baby is a blessing.
As someone who gave up a child in large part because I had no support I commend you for being there for her. I hope she has a nice easy pregnancy and a happy healthy baby

Re: I have some news...
Wishing you and your family the best! My dear friend went through this...twice...she had her son at 17 and her son had his daughter at 16. Grandma at age 34. Scary indeed.
Despite all the trials and tribulations she has experienced through the years and being a single mom, she has done VERY well for herself. And her son has too.
Your family and Kass will make it over the bumps and her baby will be surrounded by the support he needs. Wishing you and your family well!

You are an awesome Mom! We will be here for you while you are there for her.

Re: I have some news...
You are all the best! I felt very safe sharing this news here first and you have all confirmed why I feel that way.
Thank you so much for sharing your stories and offering your support. It really does make a world of difference to know that there is a happy ending, even though it will take hard work and determination on Kass' part & lots of patience on mine & Scott's part.
Jennifer- I will definitely heed your advice about not doing too much. I already know that that will be something I have to remind myself on a daily basis. I am a nuturer by nature.

Re: I have some news...
Katie. You are a wonderful mom. And Kass is an incredible person because of you. And so will her baby boy. We love you so much, and we're here for anything you need.
If Kass needs anyone to talk to, I'm always here
if you need anything at all, please let me know. Lots and lots of love for you.
And as much as this might not be what everyone wanted. Make the best of it, and enjoy it. You only have your first baby, and your first grandbaby once:)

Congratulations! As you said, this may not be perfect timing but a baby is a blessing. Apparently God thinks this is the right time. I was a teen mom, too, and I'm pretty proud of the kid I raised.

Re: I have some news...
I am glad you felt like you could tell us.
My first thought: how wonderful that your family has such a strong relationship that you can all work thru this together! I always knew that if I got pregnant young I could tell my mom and she might be upset but would support me.
My second thought, a baby is a blessing!
I can only imagine the hard work and adjustment it will take but my mom had me at 18 and it all worked out My sister had her first child at 19, and my mom and dad really helped her through some tough times. I think its so great that you have a plan for her to go to college! Having an education so she can have a plan forward will really help her down the road - that is something my sister did not do. She is just now planning to go to college (but this was not just because of getting pregnant).
Huge for the family as you all adjust through this!

Lol one of the hardest things I think is for the moms to back off, your DD is still your baby in yours eyes......it'll be ok though......just give her the courage to do it on her own...she needs to hear that she can do this and often. Confidence is key!!!
When is her due date?
Cindy - I'm pretty proud of mine too, best mishap I've ever had. I wouldn't trade her or my experience for a thing in the world and if I had to do it all the same over again, I wouldn't hesitate.

Re: I have some news...
There have been so many wonderful comments here and I second all of them. She is lucky to have such a supportive family during a time that must be very scary for her! Hugs and congrats to all of you.
Re: I have some news...
I agree with what everyone has said so far. The only thing I have to add is that you'll be in real trouble if you don't share pictures with us when little guy gets here!

Re: I have some news...
Thank you to everyone! I really am positive about this. Several people have commented that I don't seem upset. Don't get me wrong, I am a little stressed & had a hard time when my sister dragged me into Babies R Us this past weekend, but I guess I really don't see how being upset will help Kass.
Abby-I plan on taking lots of pics & sharing! I told Kass I wanted baby belly pics. Not for me, but really for the little guy. So he knows he was loved from the get-go.

That is SUCH a wonderful idea!!!

Oh good you're getting belly pics! I wasn't 100% sure how you felt about those and I love the idea behind it!
