Back on the bandwagon
Ok, so I was off to a great start for two months, then March hit and I have been awful about my health. When I was at the cabin I walked a 5k with Mara and Tess and it felt great. I was proud of myself for finishing. Then I came home and didn't take another step! So, by their great example I am reinspired to get back to a healthier me.
I have talked to Lou's cousin and sister and we have decided that we are going to do the Riverbank Run 5k here on May 14. I know it's only 9 weeks away and it kind of scares me, but if in the end I walk it at least I completed it.
Tomorrow starts the first day back on track and I WILL do this and be happy with my appearance and health again!
So, if you guys could, I would love a nice kick in the butt if you don't see me posting in this forum about my workouts and food each day. I could really use the encouragement!

Re: Back on the bandwagon
omg that is awesome Kim!!! And I know you can finish it because you did one your first day of working out up and down a mountain in under an hour!
If you want to "wog" (walk/jog) your next 5K I totally recommend the get running couch to 5k program. With all my craziness Im only on week 5 and still managed to finish today in a decent time so I have total faith you can do it!
And I will totally help when I can if you promise to help me stay on track too! Im looking for another 5K this spring to keep me motivated.

I got the one for my iphone that you have. I am starting it this week! I figure it's a 9 week program and I will be doing the 5k in 9 weeks, so if I can stay committed I will be good. And I love the word "wog"!! You told me that if I am doing more than walking, even if it's slow it's running so I am taking that into consideration when I go for my first "run".

I say you come to GR and do the 5k with me! (wishful thinking!)
I promise to keep you on track too. We can encourage each other here even if I don't have you to go out running with me in person, in spirit is almost as good!

Re: Back on the bandwagon
You can do it Kim!
I also need to get back on track. I lost 20 ponds last year and have kept it off. I would love to lose another 15. I did great until Thanksgiving and have been very inconsisitent with both my eating and workouts since. I worked with a trainer and ran several 5Ks during last summer and fall, something that I didn't think I could ever do. I found that the biggest challenge for me was getting my thoughts under control. Positive thinking is still a new concept for me because am super critical of myself. I'll be here to support you for sure!

So happy for you!
M and I are now in training for another 5K -- TBD. This time, no lung malfunctions and more running!
Re: Back on the bandwagon
Tess, you are invited to come to Michigan to run with me too!
Thanks for the encouragement!
