So here is my silly story...
Thomas and I went out for lunch at Red Lobster. I was like, oh I need to take something (flinging back down the ugly coasters that were not scrap worthy)... Thomas says "here" and hands me the plain white strip of paper that came around the napkins. Gee THANKS

He's a card... they didn't have anything scrapworthy at all? Hmmmm.
Do we need an album for this project? Of a certain size? Or are we going to make each page different?
I was thinking of using one similar to my 6x8 december daily three ring...

You can do whatever size you like. All the team is doing something different. I will see if we can show you all four formats this weekend
My album is 6" tall by about 9" wide. I found that was my biggest piece of memorabilia. I sometimes made my memorabilia my base for my page. How you incorporate your memorabilia is up to you. Its your book. No set format for this one!

And mine is still yet to be totally decided. lol
I'm working through something though and hopefully will find the answers this week.

I am super excited about this! I am pretty sure mine is just going to be a free form album with random page sizes but I will have to see.
Re: Project: Life Memorabilia - Chit Chat
Like i mentioned when this project was announced, it is so me as well. And I am committing that I am going to do something with it. I have so much stuff from living over here that I have "just saved". I am excited to do something with it all.

I'm going to try and play along, but until breaks from school, I will probably only be collecting. I'm having trouble deciding what to keep. It seems like every time I draw the line, I'll be keeping hardly anything or way too much!

Keep way too much; and then just go through it once in a while and chuck stuff you dont want
Re: Project: Life Memorabilia - Chit Chat
Thanks, K! I also have to figure out a place to keep stuff. Any ideas? The pile on my scrap table isn't doin' it for me.

I recommend getting a plastic envie kind of thing or a box. Then you can put it some where you can easily access but a bit out of the way. I am with K... save way too much and decide later.

I've been saving crap forever...maybe I should figure out a way to make a 'scrapbook' out of a refrigerator box...

Re: Project: Life Memorabilia - Chit Chat
Question on the accordian binding.
is it best to use cardstock or something lighter, like pp?
Bree, your vid looks like you used either double sided or two sheets of pp
and you used 3/8" folds. larger folds would be for thicker items (i have a heavy chipboard cover) or just would cover up more of my page when i glue it in?

Re: Project: Life Memorabilia - Chit Chat
Good questions!
I am pretty sure Bree used double sided PP. If you use thicker folds It would cover more of your page but also give you more room to anchor stuff. I also think all of your folds need to be the same thickness with maybe the cover being the exception.

Re: Project: Life Memorabilia - Chit Chat
I have done cardstock and double sided PP. Either work. I used to do 1/2" folds, and those work well. I chose to go smaller this time because I like the look and its working fine. I think it would work even for heavier chipboard. I glue all items in (don't reco regular tape runners - only ATG or wet glue) and put them all in just as far if that makes sense.
I just don't reco using a light paper OR textured cardstock. Textured will have issues being scored an folded nicely and thinner paper might be too wimpy.
Does that help?
And you might want to do a practice binding first... like a small baby size one just to get a feeling for how it goes

I totally forgot I wanted the ticket stubs from the movies for my memorabilia book and ordered them on Fandango out of habit.
Guess Ill have to buy some candy or something so I have some other momento.

I told them I forgot my confirmation at home and made them print me a ticket since it was dead tonight. I got a super cool coffee sleeve too!
Re: Project: Life Memorabilia - Chit Chat
That is hysterical Mara! You go!
I did 2 pages I think... I tend to go back and add stuff to pages so I can't remember how much was new vs. just adding. I am working on my cover for Winter 10-11. its my second book.
