Song lyrics

Post by jessicabree on Wed Dec 08, 2010 9:58 pm

So kind of random...

Are there certain lines a song you love for some reason?

And are there one's you hate or always find odd or confusing?

Like...

I love, in Hotel California:
"Some dance to remember, some dance to forget" (not totally sure why)

I know I was thinking about some line I hate from a song the other day but I forget what song it was now! lol

Whenever anyone mentions lyrics I think of the song by the Monkees called "The Porpoise Song" and it's from their strange movie called "Head" which takes on a whole new meaning now that I'm older.

Anyways, I could never understand a line they said because it always sounded like gibberish until I looked it up. It's "Riding the backs of giraffes for laughs s'alright for awhile" no clue what it means.

oh and I love this part of American Pie:

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news,
but she just smiled and turned away

And oddly from Truckin by the Dead:

What in the world ever became of sweet Jane
She lost her sparkle, you know she isn't the same
Living on reds, vitamin C and cocaine
All her friends can say is ain't it a shame

Chris Daughtry's Home...

Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it all...
and then some you don't want.

The pompitus of love thing has always gotten me, too, but I sing it loud and proud in the car, anyway!

I adore the lyrics from Soul Sister: The way you move ain't fair, you know. I could sing that whole song all day long!

I love listening to the lyrics of songs and have to admit that I find a lot of the latest stuff quite vulgar. I really don't need to know what your going to do her/him once you get them undressed. I can sort of imagine it without all the descriptions. Wink Wink Wink

I'm now obsessed with OneRepublic.

Love this one from "Waking Up" :

I found verity
On Nolan's Avenue
Down where the air is sweet
As L.A. skies are blue
The water tried to break it down
But it held through
It gave a little for the sake of staying true

And this one from "All this time":

all this time
we were waiting for each other
all this time
I was waiting for you
we got all these words
can't waste them on another
so I'm straight in a straight line
running back to you

IN LOVE WITH THEM!!!

I love that song too! I know Tess posted a while back about hearing it too much but I still love it!

That reminds me of a Gavin Degraw (I think that's his name) song line:

Her favorite fruit is chocolate covered cherries,
and seedless watermelon
Nothing from the ground is good enough

Oh I agree! There are songs I love the tune of but have a hard time singing along to when it involves things like licking and such! lol

I have this thing for "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Not exactly sure why, but I always sing at the top of my lungs to that one.

And, yeah, "Soul Sister" makes me want to cut my ears off.

Yeah -- I do. Razz

But how CAN'T you love:
"Spontaneous human combustion.
Poof! There goes another one.
A raging fire. A funeral pyre.
An unexpected cremation."

Just ridiculous. And catchy...

I just can't believe there is anyone else in the world that has heard of them AND appreciates them?!?

The line that I always get stuck in my head is
"I can't be buried in a Jewish cemetery unless before I die I become so very hairy.
TATTOO!!!!!!!!"

I love Brian Eno:

look at her laughing... like a heifer to the slaughter....

I listen to that Eno album outside all the time and hope and pray my extremely religious neighbors can't hear it!
