Cardio Question Empty Cardio Question

I got my MIL's old elliptical (she drives me crazy, but she does have her good qualities!) and have started using it pretty much everyday. So the question is: in order for cardio/elliptical to be effective about how long should I be on it? Just a general ballpark figure.

I know there is a different approach for "heart" health vs. weight loss. But in general I would say work up to 30 minutes or longer? It depends on your intensity I think?

Yeah, I think it is 30 minutes. But your heart rate plays a major factor too.

Cardio Question 224496 For weightloss you do a lower heart rate for longer. For true heart/cardio I think you can do higher heart rate shorter? But not sure why. I just remember the diff workout settings on the machines.
