I read the 14 page contract with the PH Housing Commission and am seriously considering not doing the Scouting program this year. Seriously, do they not realize I am volunteering (as are the rest of my team)?

When i went to the organizational meeting here for GS, I was told minimum of 60 hours of training and meetings to be a co-leader--unpaid and on weekends when I have no child care!--were required. That's above and beyond, I think... for a volunteer position.

Oh no Leslie! Did things change this year or is it just getting to be too much? I know how important Scouts is to you, so that must be a hard decision to make.

Alecia, I started volunteering for the Child and Family Resource Center here and the requirements were ridiculous, then when I started things were so chaotic and unorganized that I just had to stop!

G'evening... been searching for the perfect font. Free font, I mean. I just discovered many of the tif ones are not Mac-compatible.
I'm taking a lot of font stuff off my computer to make room for better ones.

Everyone's evening going ok?

I have 25 years of experience and my training is at the maximum level available (actually I've been on faculty at that level). My problem is not with either of the local Scouting Councils (Girl or Boy), it is with the funding source. They have added some requirements to the contract that I won't do - two girl meetings per week, must add 5 boys to the troop,... - plus reduced the funding amount from $20,000 to $12,500. Boy Scout summer camp costs $250.00 per person and we sent four boys and two leaders last summer...

I also need to keep in mind that I am not as young as I used to be - or as healthy. My energy levels are not where I need them to be, and my pain levels are way over where I want them to be...

Leslie, you've done a lot for scouts. it might be time to step away. especially if they are bringing up stuff you aren't up for.

no but i like to talk lol
i was listenting to a management podcast, and they didn't say the quote, but they talked about it ... so i made that quote up from what they said.

when you think about it, its true. on my work calandr i look and say 'is this a priority for me' and if not, i cancel it.
