How long do you keep yours? How long do you think they should last?

I keep them until I see obvious wear and tear, if any whitening occurs, or any white spots appear, they are out. I'd say they last less than a year. I don't like to microwave with mine, I'm afraid phthalates will be released into the food, even though most are supposed to be free of them and microwaveable.
I'm really picky about them and toss them out even if they get dented too much!

Mine always seem to disappear before they wear out! Laughing (Which is why I no longer spend the money on more expensive containers.)

We've had ours for years. At least two if not more. Knowing how budget concious DH is, I've waited awhile. They've shown some wear and now they're really showing tear!

Mine seem to disappear, too!! In fact, I really need to re-stock my supply. I'm sure my kids have a really nice collection:)

If they crack, you could get cut, and if they have started showing spots, they could leak Bisphenol-A, even though the Saran and Ziplock brands meets "acceptable standards."
They are less than $5 a set. I say splurge and replace them...
better yet, go Tupperware! Smile

My husband steals them to mix paints and toners all the time. Or to soak something in kerosene. And my kids steal them to give the pets snacks.

I'd have to spend close to $100 to replace what I have now and will spend only $20ish dollars to replace the Ziploc and we keep them forever.

Get the Rubbermaid Premier ones (we have the ones with the black lids) they are awesome! They are really truly honestly, the only containers that we've ever had where you can put in spaghetti sauce, and it doesn't stain. Comes perfectly clean every time. We got a box of mixed sizes for around $20. Ziploc/Gladware Containers 484554

No plastic here. Smile

You can get a set of glass ones in small sizes for about $20 for about 10-15 containers. You'll never have to replace them and they are so much safer/healther than the plastic ones.

Honestly, we just reuse our takeout containers most of the time. We bought a set at ikea, it was 17 containers for $6. I use a lot of them for art things. But we mostly rely on recycling all our takeout containers.

I do that, too. Very Happy Part of the reason I use the cheapies is so I don't have to open the scary stuff I find lurking in the back of the fridge!

We use the snap-loc or biokips containers. So far, they've lasted a good, long time. I only toss them in the recycling bin if they are cracked or way too spotted. I've considered using glass, but Z takes his lunch to work in the containers, so we'd have a LOT of broken containers on our hands.
