12.10 Gift Wrap Challenge -- brought to you by K :)
Gift Wrap Challenge
My challenge for the site-warming crop is a gift wrap challenge!
So I love wrapping presents, I think its such a great way to be creative, and people love looking at beautifully wrapped presents! I keep all of my older holiday paper and embellishments in a cropper hopper containers, and when I’m wrapping presents, I bring them out to help give the gift a little handmade touch.
Here is an example of a gift that I wrapped on Wednesday:
I’m totally in love with those little crimped paper fan things! That was the first time I tried to make one! They’re really easy. Next time I make one, I’ll take pictures and try to put a tutorial in the forum.
What I’m challenging you to do is to use some of your scrappy supplies in your holiday gift wrapping! If you can use up some of your stash! Even better!! My thoughts are, hey, this stuff is gonna sit around for a while unless I use it on something! And what better than to dress up some holiday presents!
Some ideas to add in scrappy supplies to gift wrapping:
- Wrap something using patterned paper! (lightweight paper works a lot better than the thicker stuff)
- Cut up some of the thicker patterned paper (like I did above) to add some color and layers to your wrapping
- Make a To: From: tag out of your scrappy supplies
- Use rub-ons, stamp, or paint right on the packaging! (works great if you like to wrap in kraft paper or brown paper bags)
- Leave the tag off completely and use some of your alphas to write the recipients name on your gift wrap!
- Use some fun chipboard as a little hanging element!
There are tons more way to incorporate scrapping and art stuff into your gift wrapping! I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! Please photograph your project, and make sure to add the link to this thread, and I will choose a winner on Monday when I wake up. This way you’ll have the entire weekend!
Thanks for taking on the challenge!

Great challenge K! I am going to a holiday party on Sunday and we are doing a white elephant gift exchange. I'm excited to try some of these tips to make my gift look cool outside so people will pick mine first!

Love this challenge and it will work perfectly with my "theme" this year! Im wrapping everything in brown kraft paper so this will be a great way to make them a little cuter!

what cute wrapping ideas K!
I plan on using some Christmas cards that I saved from last year to make some gift tags for this year!

BTW lol, I'm not sure if anyone noticed. But the black wrapping paper is actually a ScrapFreak kit bag that I cut apart and re-used:D
I'm not buying gift wrap this year, as a way to save some money, and those kit bags are awesome wrapping paper!

You are so clever! Sadly they don't match my theme this year or i would totally do that! I may save them for valentines. Ever try wrapping a present for a guy who's idea of adding color is to wear a grey shirt???

Mara, I get it! You should see the mound of black laundry! It's quite funny in comparision to the white and color piles!

That's a FABULOUS idea, K! I have tons if you need some more.
Great challenge! Now if I would just buy some presents I could work on this one.
Re: 12.10 Gift Wrap Challenge -- brought to you by K :)
Yeah Mon, that was one of the reasons I figured it would be good to wait until Monday to pick a winner, that way people would have more time to actually get gifts to wrap this weekend.
Re: 12.10 Gift Wrap Challenge -- brought to you by K :)
Fun challenge! I have bought all but 3 gifts so I can actually do this one! I think I will work on this tonight or tomorrow. I love all the ideas!
And I great tag idea Charlotte! I hope you post them so we can see what you make

Thanks! I used the EK Success Real Estate Punch and punched out part of a kraft paper bag, then used Red Maya Mist on the back of a chipboard button, and then the top is a chipboard snowflake that I painted with gesso and then glittered

K-I love your your example! I am going to wrap some gifts today and this is the perfect idea for them.

This is a great idea. I love what you did with the black Scrapfreak bag. I have kept all of mine and this is a great way to use them.
Re: 12.10 Gift Wrap Challenge -- brought to you by K :)

I have done this before and was actually suprised that people noticed!! Usually they just rip right through it!

Here's a gift box I made. I covered an old box I had for chipboard alphas in black paper and then used carstock and patterned paper to decorate the front. I actually did this box last week so don't know if it counts for the challenge but wanted to share anyway
Re: 12.10 Gift Wrap Challenge -- brought to you by K :)
