What would your Dream Scrapbook Space have?

Every spring I sit down and sort of dream of what Id love my space to be. But alas since we are "poor" None of it is going to happen anytime soon.

So in your ideal scrapbook space what would you want/need?

I would love a huge square table where I can spread out, and some of those really cool ikea shelves to put up all my stuff. Lots of windows for natural light. And I think just because it's my dream, I'd like to have a window seat in there also, just because. Peg boards with hooks for some things. Some sort of cool paper storage system. And I'd like it to be big and spaced out. And I'd also like it to be painted cool, some sort of paint that to me says creative, come work in here, not neutral colors. Oooh, and wood flooring. I'd love wood flooring in there!

I'm actually pretty content with my craft room except for not having a computer in there at the moment. That and it needs a major cleaning.

a bunch of table space...about 4x8 I think. 2 sets of 2x8 tables.

A couch and really really comfy chairs.

A bunch of ikea expedit shelving.

One chalkboard wall

One wall with hanging wire for layouts to hang.

a sink and a mini fridge

Lots and Lots of vintage findings to use as storage.

Skylights.

A flat screen TV mounted to the wall, which is also hooked up to a 5.1 surround sound system and a computer, so I can have my movies and my netflix and my music if I need.

A Wide format printer and a silhouette.

On the wall with the layouts hanging, I also want counterspace (this is where the sink can be) and cabinets underneath, so I can hide away all the ugly crap.

I actually am happy with the size of my space. But if I could convince DH to let me take over the living room which is the same size Id be much happier. I miss having windows.

So in my dream space Id have the following:

1- a sink
2- lots of windows
3- a second expedit
4- my kitchen wall cabinets actually mounted so I can have my counter space back
5- a dedicated sewing station
6- a display cabinet for my dolls
7- prettier lighting (some functional some decorative)
8- More drawer space (or drawers added to the cabinets I have)
9- Cool fun art prints that I have bookmarked in etsy
10- heated floors or painted wood floors (if I can't have functional I want it to be pretty)
11- a comfy sitting/reading area
12- a better table for friends

My biggest wish right now is to have a room with a door so I can close it away rather than have to clean it up when we have company.

If that part was accomplished, then I want lots of counter space and lots of shelves and cabinets and drawers to keep everything organized and pretty containers to keep out to inspire me.

I have one and now I want another. Not only are they functional, but they look cool!

I love the room I have, but if I could have whatever I wanted to add to it, I would want:

More overhead lighting
A TV
Another antique armoire/card catalog for storage
several antique suitcases
a larger desk w/ a desk skirt
a cool wall clock (have been looking for one that i for a long, long time)

I scrap on my bed and it works surprisingly well because it has:

Natural light
a bathroom
A tv, tivo, laptop
and a spot for my doggie

downside... its a mess. Hence the maid.

a magical clock that makes time for me to scrap.

Bree, you must explain this scrapping-on-your-bed thing to me!!

Do you have a little table that you pull up, or something like that? you need some sort of hard surface, right??

And, doesn't it hurt your back to sit hunched over in bed? Or do you have a secret??

I love the idea of bed scrapping. I just don't know if I could do it, though! (And where is all of your stuff stored??)

My scrap space is in my kitchen. We have this "extra" little area in our kitchen that actually works really well. Although, I'd much rather have Comet's huge dog crate there (instead of in my living room!)... so I wish I had another space for the scrap stuff sometimes!!!

My dream space would have MORE space, for sure... a room of my own would be just heavenly. I'd have it set up as half office (for the little bit of work I do, lol) and half scrap room. And I'd probably lock myself in there all the time and only come out to eat and shower.


I would definitely have some of those Expedit shelving units. They make me drool every time I see them.

Erin, is there a reason you don't switch the dog's crate w/ your scrap space?

Well, the dog's crate is in the corner of the living room right now... my scrap crap wouldn't fit there (and I wouldn't want it there, lol).

We used to have the perfect spot for Comet's crate... another spot in the kitchen. but then we got our dishwasher and there was no more room for him in there. That's when he got moved to the living room.

I can't figure out WHERE to put that darn crate now. UGH.

i knew there must have been a reason. i like where your scrap space is because i can still chat with you when you are cooking or scrapping.

Oh, but now that I have my laptop, I can Skype from ANYWHERE, Kate! hahahaha!

More space definitely. I would also like more natural lighting. The only way for me to get more space though is to close in the garage and that would not provide more natural lighting. :-(

If I did have more space, I would have a really large scrap island at counter height. I find myself standing more and more to scrap. My room can currently accommodate that to a point, but more space is HIGH on my list.

And I have a great room. My problem is that I have too much STUFF.

I am really lucky and have a nice room for all my scrap stuff. I also have a nice, table-I got it from Pottery Barn-that lets me stand while I work. I don't like to scrap sitting down! I have a huge closet to store stuff in, which is WAY to full with stuff I probably will never use
But to improve my space? First we'll start with Bree's maid!! I would love countertops around the room. Better lighting!! And a sink, little fridge and a coffee maker would be really nice. Heck, throw in that microwave and I'll never leave!!

I actually have a mini fridge, microwave (mainly to unmount rubber stamps) and a new water cooler/dispenser thing. Its nice being able to have cold drinks right at hand
