Launch Party Organization tips with Sara! Organizing and storing your patterened paper scraps ( 8pm EST )
Storing your paper scraps
Things you need:
To store my various paper scraps ( and trust me I have created piles over the years )
I use a towered set of drawers that can be purchased at Wal-Mart or any store like it.
The two large bottom drawers are for warm colored scraps and cold colored scraps.
( Warm colors are based on yellows, oranges, browns, yellowish greens, orange reds, and the like. Cool colors are based on blues, greens, pinks, purples, blue-greens, magenta's, and blue-based reds. )
Above those drawers is reserved for my "themed" scrap bags.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I take any brand of large zip bags and write a category on each one with a sharpie.
Military, Christmas, Halloween etc, baby, girl, boy, vintage, birthday, outdoors, school, sports and so on. The bags are perfect because they are self contained, portable and best of all see through!!!
All of my scraps from the large to the itty bitty fit.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
For those teenie tiny scraps, I just place them in a smaller baggie and into the big bag it goes!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I can personally say that this has not only made the organization and functionality of my paper scraps a trillion times better but it has cut the time I spend
searching for that perfect little piece of paper that I could have sworn I used some of 3 months ago virtually in half. Always a plus in my book!
For all of you souper girls that need to get your PP scraps in order for the new year, this one is for you! So grab your coffee, dust that new year confetti off of your shoulders, pull out those heaps of PP scraps, take a deep breath, dig in and let these tips make your organization process that much easier!
We will award 10 bonus points to ONE challenge participate based on a random drawing.
Hope you can play along with all of us tonight and thank you for coming to the Creative Soup Launch party!

Here is how I store my scrap paper pieces. I took a file cart that goes with a desk I have and converted to storage. It's great because it has wheels and rolls under my craft table. On the lower shelf are two storage cases from Michael's that contain page kits and pages I have received from swaps. The top shelf has my CM cutting system.

I got some storage envelopes at Micheal's and store my large scraps in them. One for each color.

They are stored in the hanging file area of the cart.

I store my smaller pieces of scraps, journal boxes and photo mats in a Creative Memories Power Sort Box. They are sorted by color in the compartment boxes.

Scrap pieces have always been a thorn in my organization. Since I have a Cricut and Design Studio, I tend to keep every piece of scrap because with the software I can place the paper where I need to on the mat. Right now, this is working for me.
Thanks for letting me share and maybe it will help someone.

Oh goody! I organize my paper and most of my embellies into kits. I like to be able to just grab coordinating papers and supplies quickly when I scrap. Also, I find that I will use up some of my older stuff if it is in with new kits:

Re: Launch Party Organization tips with Sara! Organizing and storing your patterened paper scraps ( 8pm EST )
ok, here is mine
i have an accordian folder thingy (is it a 'generations scrapfolio'?) that i've divided by color. each of the colors has two sections, one for solids and one for prints.
at the very back is just 'prints' that don't have a main color
this was very handy as i was making my perpetual calendar and i needed scraps for the month dividers
(by the way, the first picture shows my other paper storage... priority mail boxes cut like magazine holders, and i painted the front to show which color is in there)

just be sure you are using used priority mail boxes - otherwise it is considered stealing from the United States Postal Service...
