Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
I have been glued to the news pretty much all day. I don't know if you've heard, there are floods in Queensland. 75% of Queensland is declared a Natural Disaster Zone. Lives have been lost and thousands of people have lost there homes. The water is so high that only some of the roof tops of houses can be seen. Unfortunately the worst is still yet to come. Some towns have been flooded twice in 10 days. It is all quite sad.
Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
Hope everyone has a good day. Are you all still getting lots of snow?? Bree, Laura and anyone else out of work, are you going back today?
Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
Good morning!
Liz, I had been wondered since I had seen the news of the flooding. Just horrible. We never hear about anywhere but Brisbane though, for some reason. Are you doing ok in your area?

Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
The main flooding is in Queensland - Brisbane is the capital of this state and is being hit with the floods today and tomorrow. I am very far away from all of this - 3000kms so approx. 1500 miles. But I have lots of friends up there. Some have no power or water and lost houses. Thankfully they have warnings so can evacute beforehand, those that listen anyways. There are always some who stay behind.
But sadly one town was hit unexpectantly by flash floods and some people died.

Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
today is my last day to get my house clean. Our new live-in arrives from America tomorrow. As soon as all my kids are home from school, I am going to crack my whip and get this house clean from top to bottom.

Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
Oh, I also had one child stay home from school today sick. He is not really sick, but he was yesterday. So sick. He did not get his homework done. And his teacher has no tolerance for it not being done. Even if he was in bed. So, I let him sleep in and he has been working on it all morning.
Does that make me a bad mom for letting him stay home? I mean, it was MY idea.

Good morning, ladies!
Liz- The flooding is scary! It seems like it wasn't that long ago that people were complaining of drought?

Morning girls! Today is my long day of school. And I have to get there early so I can figure out parking and the shuttle since I am at two different campuses today. But, I have a break in between classes so I will pop in here I'm sure.
Have a good day!

Liz - I saw a report on the news about the flooding in Australia. How awful...
Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
Hi Everyone!
I was debating driving in to work today. Its just so hard to know how bad the road really are and I am from FL! So I never drive in snow or ice. In the end I just decided to work from home one more day since it will be fine tomorrow. Better to be safe than sorry, huh? But I am tired of being cooped up here at home and was honestly looking forward to being at work! Weird, right?
So off to get some work done. I will check in when I have break later for lunch.

Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
Liz, being from FL I know what you mean about people not evacuating! We are very lucky that most of the issues we had in FL are hurricane related and therefore you know way in advance. It amazes me the people that choose to stay. No house or object is worth risking your life or your families like that in my opinion.
Glad to hear you are safe but sad for those that lost their homes or a loved one!

I'm going to try to head to the office a little later after things have had a chance to melt. I'm nervous about it and may end up turning around, but I think it's worth trying.

Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
I have a photo to share though. I took this from my front door just a few minutes ago. before the snow started last night we had very little on the ground. I'm guessing we got five or six inches.
Notice that my road is already plowed. that was done at 3am by a guy with a plow blade on the front of a pickup truck. that is why we, here in Michigan, can get around quickly after a snow. It has nothing to do with the cities having enough equipment.

Re: Hello Wednesday :-)
We still have most of our snow. My dh went to the office yesterday and said it was very slippery. He ended up coming home before noon. today he is working from home. What snow was on the roads and started melting yesterday froze last night. Schools and lots of businesses and evening church services are closed or cancelled. I am enjoying being home because that means no running my girls everywhere for dance and stuff.
Liz, I was thinking of you when I heard about the flooding in Australia. I'm glad you are ok.
Tamara, I would have done the same thing. We homeschool and I don't make my girls do schoolwork if they are sick.
Bree, I don't drive in the snow/ice either.
Off to crack the whip! Bwahahahahaha
