Happy Thursday!

Today I want to show you a couple examples of making masks with random things you find around the house. There are lots of masks out there on the market now, but I've found that some of the most interesting masking is done with just some found items.

The first mask is this sheet of square chipboard with circles cut out of it. The sheet came from a board game with little chipboard chips; and instead of throwing out the excess, I've used it for a misting mask.

I used this mask for my canvas project. Here are a couple early pictures so you can get an idea of the masking.

My second example is from our February Crop invitation. I used a plastic lid to get that misted circle effect. And the great thing about using something like this, is you can just throw it in the dishwasher and use it a million times!

The possibilities are endless! And if you're just making your way into messy paints and mists, using homemade masks will leave more money in your budget for more fun colors to play around with!

this is such a good idea and i love the look of masks and mists and don't really use them that much. Thanks for the prompt to be more adventurous!

I swear my head as been in the clouds this whole week. I barely even remember yesterday.

Thanks guys!

There are a bunch of other fun ideas too that I haven't used yet that I've been thinking of.

Children's beads are always fun, the plastic ones you can just wash.
Layers of washi or masking tape, lift them up and you can make cool patterns.

One more tip!!

If you're going to use more than one color mist while you are masking, make sure to use the darker color when you are using your mask! That way when you lift the mask up and spray your lighter color, the lighter color will go where there is no mist and not bleed into the darker color as much as if you did it the other way around Very Happy
